Photographer | Filmmaker | Poet

(b. 1991 - Lima, Peru)

Yanett immigrated with her family to Queens, NYC in the early 00s and has always had a pull toward visual mediums and poetry. She graduated in 2014 from CUNY (The City College) with a BFA in Film and Video Production. Her photo work leans towards a blend of street photography and reflection/shadow self-portraiture, using her solitary walkabouts in NYC and Peru to hone into the city, her immigrant family and the ways colonization has shaped the world around her. Many of her photo series includes commentary on race, the nostalgia of the city, and archiving her parents' life post immigration. After a decade of unpublished work, she feels ready to share part of her work with the digital/physical world. She currently lives in NJ with her partner and plants.
